AS Reward - cycling to success
Alan McGhie, Director of Support Services at Anderson Strathern LLP has just completed the challenging 300-mile London-to-Paris Bike Ride on his very own Cycle AT WORK™ bike, raising in excess of £ 2,500 for Christian Aid.
The Cycle to Work initiative is an HMRC approved scheme set up to encourage employees to cycle to work and reduce their CO2 emissions. Through the scheme, each employee can hire a bicycle and related safety equipment from their employer free from income tax and National Insurance Contributions (NIC). Employers save NIC for each participating employee.
Alan commented, "Cycle AT WORK™ has helped Anderson Strathern LLP reduce carbon emissions and improve our carbon footprint, thus supporting our Corporate Responsibility and environmental policies. I took full advantage of the Cycle AT WORK™ scheme when we launched AS Reward Flexible Benefits with You at Work in 2008. I have saved almost £500 on the cost of the bike and the personal health and fitness benefits are considerable. Cycling to work has greatly improved my fitness too, so it's very much a win-win initiative!"
Bruce Rayner, CEO at You at Work commented, "You at Work are proud to be supporting Alan, who is an ambassador for Cycle AT WORK™. We will continue to develop the AS Reward Flexible Benefits scheme to support their aim in attracting and retaining the best people and heighten their employer of choice status within the legal community."
