Employees must understand social network security issues
Although allowing social network usage can be a great way to boost motivation through engagement, employees must understand the security risks of using these types of sites.
According to SC Magazine, all staff must be aware of company rules regarding the information they can divulge during social network communications.
As the use of these portals can leave firms at risk of cyber attacks, organisations must ensure their systems are regularly updated and that all passwords are secure.
Online news editor at the IT publication Dan Raywood explained: "If you want to attract the best and want the best performance, you give them what they want, but ensure they are familiar with policy on broadcasting information and attachments."
His comments follow a report by security solutions provider Norman, which revealed that social network platforms are increasingly being targeted by cybercriminals.
Portals such as Facebook and Twitter are being used to spread malicious software, according to vice president of original equipment manufacture and technology Arvid Gomez.
