Employers could offer flexible benefits to ageing workforce
Businesses could consider adjusting their employee benefits packages, as the UK workforce is expected to age in the coming years.
While current lifestyle benefits may include discounts and memberships which appeal to younger employees, companies may wish to add in attractions which represent the interests of older people.
According to Rachel Krys, campaign director at the Employers Forum on Age, people will be working longer and perceptions of age are likely to change.
"I think what employers have to consider is how to keep employees engaged and up-skilled in the long-term and have them as active as possible," she added.
Ms Krys also suggested that by adopting the right employee benefits and management style, firms will be able to get the most from older members of staff.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics predict that there will be 16 million elderly people in the UK by 2031, which means there may need to be a further rise in the retirement age.
