Flexible benefits could ease pressure on female employees
Too many female employees feel they have to choose between having a family and having a career - something employers could ease through offering flexible benefits.
According to Jane Hopkins of Mumsclub - the UK''s only business club for mums - many new mothers fail to return to work after maternity leave as their employers cannot provide the flexibility they require.
"I have heard...tales of working conditions being changed so much in their absence that they feel no option than to give it all up to focus on their families," she said.
Ms Hopkins noted that many mothers struggled with the dual demands of work and family life, with insufficient flexibility from employers forcing many women to give up their employment.
The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology released a statement earlier this week which said a large number of female university students would be prepared to have their eggs frozen to allow them to have a career before settling down to bring up a family.
