Incentives and motivation ''should not be treated as the same thing''
It is important to realise that staff incentives are not the same as motivation, a website has said.
While incentives can be offered as part of employee benefits packages, good managers should identify what intrinsic motivations their staff need in order to maximise output, according to Helium Business Management.
Having reliable employees is of vital importance to any organisation, no matter how automated operations are, the site said.
While incentives make staff work hard to achieve a reward at the end, by understanding the root of motivation, a manger can increase productivity.
"Some employees are motivated by being offered on-the-job training and being able to learn something new, and some employees feel motivated when working in a team," the report noted.
Others would respond better if given the latest technology to use at work.
Setting up a cycle to work scheme can be another good motivator for employees as it also encourages health living.
