Cycle to work schemes ''have many benefits''

A list of the ten main benefits of employers signing up to a cycle to work scheme have been listed by a website.

Personnel Today reported that the government sponsored schemes can help with various areas of a business, many outside of the usual expectations.

Employees who cycle to work were found to be healthier, more productive and have a better attendance record than those who travelled by car or bus.

The site also suggested employers who offer such benefits are viewed as being more in tune with their employees'' needs, thus not only helping recruitment, but aiding retention and engagement too.

Organisations looking to reduce their carbon footprint can also point to cycle to work programmes as part of their efforts, while national insurance and capital allowance savings can be made by those who sign up.

Under the system, where employees pay their employers a reduced amount, any worker leaving the organisation prior to the completion of the payment arrangement can have the remaining balance deducted from their final pay.
