You at Work launches engagement measurement (1 December 2007)

Employee Benefits provider You at Work has launched a service to enable employers to measure levels of staff engagement in their organisation.

Engagement levels will be gauged using responses to an employee survey that can be conducted either using a paper questionnaire or online. Employers will be able to choose which format best suits their workforce

Since the new package has been introduced, the firm has seen staff turnover cut by 40%, recruitment costs down by a third and the take-up of childcare vouchers has doubled. The company now intends to conduct regular surveys and use focus groups to ask staff for their views.

You at Work will set up and design the survey and, if it is conducted online, will use its own software to collate and analyse the results.

If the employer requires a paper-based survey to be used, You at Work will input the data from the questionnaire into its own software and analyse it in the same way as if the survey was conducted in an online format.

The questionnaire will ask employees whether they feel empowered at work and within their specific role, and what they think about how they are treated by their management.

You at Work will be able to benchmark the results against those of other employers operating in their sector. If employers want to run the survey annually, then You at Work can also analyse the data to retrospectively highlight any shifts in employee engagement levels.

Sally Winter, marketing manager at You at Work, said: "We can identify the specific levers employers can use to improve engagement and boost [appeal]."
