REC: Staff retention on the agenda for 94% of employers
Some 94 per cent of employers expect either to maintain of increase the amount of full-time staff they hire in the next year, according to recent figures from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
In addition to the encouraging retention forecast, the survey also shows that one in four employers are planning to increase their temporary workforce in the next twelve months showing the mutual benefits that part-time work can have for employers and jobseekers alike.
Roger Tweedy, the REC''s director of research, said: "As a result of increasing employer confidence we should expect to see more hires over the coming year.
"Businesses are naturally cautious about the economic recovery, which is why the provision of temporary and contract work will continue to provide a useful outlet."
A survey of the workplace by IFF Research earlier this month showed that one in five employees felt freezing salaries would be their preferred way for their employer to reduce outgoings.
