Cycle to work scheme hailed a success
Two business owners who are collaborating to spread the word about the government''s cycle to work scheme have praised the benefits it provides for both employers and their staff.
Bike shop owner Dave Williams and accountant Philip Taylor have joined forces to spread the word about the cycle to work scheme which offers employees tax-free new bikes, bought via salary sacrifice with saving up to 50 per cent, the Crewe Chronicle reports.
Mr Williams told the paper: "It''s a brilliant programme where everyone wins. It baffles me why more companies aren''t taking part when it''s so simple to register online.
"Employees make big savings on new bikes and employers get a healthier workforce who arrive wide-awake in the mornings."
Cycle at work is a government approved scheme set up to encourage employees to cycle to work and reduce their CO2 emissions. Via the scheme each employee can hire a bicycle and related safety equipment from their employer free from income tax and National Insurance contributions.
